The kids have been talking lots more lately, and sometimes they are funny! A few times today, I asked a question about who wanted to do some undesirable activity (clean up, get a diaper change, share a toy, etc.). The girls answer with each other's name when I ask something like this. For example, if I ask, "Who wants to put the Elmos away?" Theresa will say, "Ninny (Lilly)," and Lillian will say, "T-sah."
Earlier this week, we were running errands in the van. I lured them out to the van with the promise of an Elmo DVD. A few moments after we got out of the driveway, I heard Lillian from the back of the van, "Mommy, press play." I laughed out loud. Lillian is very precise and succinct when making a request. A few weeks ago, she pointed to a green speck on her ravioli. She asked, "Mama, what's this?" I told her it was just a piece of spice and it was ok to eat. She responded, "No, take it off." I think that was her first sentence longer than two words and she was ordering me to do something for her.
Theresa says "baby dolly" 8,000 times a day. She hauls one or more dolls around the house all day. When she gives Matt a goodbye hug in the morning, she brings him her favorite doll to say goodbye to also. All three kids stand on their stools in front of the livingroom window to watch Matt drive off to work. Lillian gets excited to see his brake lights. She says, "Elmo lights." (Anything red is Elmo XYZ--a red m&m is an Elmo treat, ketchup is Elmo dip, etc.)
Elliott, the daddy's boy, talks about missing daddy during the day. He says things like, "Daddy back work, daddy home, daddy home now, daddy vacuum (bah-coom)." Vacuuming with Daddy is his all-time favorite activity these days. He does like to help me in the kitchen sometimes too, though. All the kids love to put the muffin liners in the muffin pan as well as help stir.
Can't wait to hear more words, though I might change my mind about this! Lillian said, "Oh, shoot" a while ago. I breathed a sigh of relief that it wasn't anything else. :)
